Frank Lampard Injury Boost Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic Update; Hakim Ziyech Ruled out; Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell Verdict.

The latest Chelsea injury news on Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Thiago Silva, and Ben Chilwell ahead of the Premier League clash against Liverpool.

Chelsea are set to be boosted by the return of a number of key players for the game.

Frank Lampard side face one of the stiffest tests in the Premier League this weekend when they face reigning champions Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Let’s have a look at the latest injury news elsewhere ahead of the clash against Jurgen Klopp’s side?

Hakim Ziyech
The 27-year-old has been ruled out of the Liverpool game due to a knee injury he picked up in the pre-season game with Brighton.

He subsequently missed the league opener against the Seagulls, with Lampard admitting it could take a few weeks for the Moroccan to recover.

According to The Athletic, Ziyech’s injury is “minor” and he should be back soon.

Timo Werner
Summer signing Werner is expected to start despite concern he had picked up an injury.

The 24-year-old was seen with an ice pack strapped to his right leg, sparking some concern whether he had picked up an injury issue.

However, he declared himself ready to take on the Reds, saying: “Of course. In games like this, you’re always fit.”

Lampard was also confident that the striker would recover in time.
“He took a knock when he won the penalty which we hope is a dead leg,” he said after the match.

“I would like to think if it is that we have a bit of time to get him back [for the Liverpool game].”

Ben Chilwell
The summer arrival from Leicester City is back in training having recovered from a heel injury.

The 23-year-old joined the Blues with the injury but after doing some individual work at Cobham, he is now nearing full fitness.

It means Chilwell could be in line to make his Chelsea debut this Sunday, if Lampard decides the full-back is ready.

Christian Pulisic
The American winger is a doubt for this weekend. Pulisic had been expected to play against Brighton but was left out of the squad completely.

After the match, Lampard confirmed it would have been ‘a big ask’ for him to play against the Seagulls.

“Christian was training with us last week but he had a bit of discomfort a couple of days ago when he was trying to be in contention for today,” he said.

“It would have been a big ask for today and he has had to take a few steps back and we will have to see.”

Thiago Silva
The former Paris Saint-Germain captain is, like Chilwell, in line for his first appearance in a Chelsea shirt.

The centre-back has been in training with the first-team squad over the past couple of days and should feature against the champions.

Silva should be a valuable addition to the backline as he hopes to replicate his success in France over the next couple of seasons with Chelsea.
