Breaking: Liz Cheney loses her seat in 20 days

Due to her participation in the House Select Committee on January 6, the Republican member has offended Donald Trump and may soon lose her position.

According to a recent Casper Star-Tribune survey, fellow Republican Harriet Hageman is poised to unseat incumbent Rep. Liz Cheney. On August 16, the two women will compete in the GOP primary for the House seat representing Wyoming, with former President Donald Trump casting a significant pall over the contest.

Hageman has a sizable advantage according to the first impartial in-state poll conducted by the Casper Star-Tribune. Cheney is stuck at 30%, while the rival has a 52% share of likely voters.

Liz Cheney is going to lose, according to managing director of Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy Brad Coker. That is an inevitable conclusion.

Cheney is receiving blowback for criticizing Trump.
Cheney’s determination to expose the lies propagated by the former President has cost her dearly in terms of GOP support, despite her kinship with the party’s leadership. Cheney, who earlier supported Trump’s impeachment, is a significant contributor to the House select committee looking into the attack on the Capitol on January 6.

Trump has responded by exerting enormous political pressure on Hageman, a lawyer for natural resources who called Cheney “despicable.” Cheney supported Trump on 92 percent of votes when he was in office, but it appears that her failure to support the big lie will lose her a seat in Congress.

The Wyoming Republican Party voted in November of last year to no longer recognize Cheney as a party member. By a vote of 31 to 29 the resolution was approved by the GOP Wyoming Central Committee. In order to further her own personal goals, it was alleged that Cheney had “not only caused huge disruption, diversion, and division inside the House Republican Conference, but has also proudly joined forces with and swore allegiance to Democrat Speaker of the House Pelosi.”

Cheney is probably going to stay in politics.
Only if she can get enough Democrats and independents to participate in the Republican primary, which is permitted by state law, will Cheney be able to keep her position. However, given how strongly the state is in favor of Trump, a turnaround would be surprising. President Trump won 70 percent of the presidential vote in Wyoming in 2020, demonstrating the continued power of his influence.

Although she has little chance of keeping her current position, she will probably continue to play a significant role in Republican politics. Her father, Dick Cheney, was George W. Bush’s vice president, and the Cheney family name continues to be appealing to Democrats.

She has been adamant that Trump’s hold over the GOP is temporary and that his influence will diminish, even during the most recent hearings on January 6.

She reprimanded GOP colleagues during the first hearing, telling them: “There will be a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your disgrace will stay.”
