Donald Trump lashes out on Nancy Pelosi for refusing to accept the White House’s offer to provide Congress with rapid Covid-19 testing, citing the need to direct resources where they are most needed.
The president launched into a Twitter attack against Pelosi Saturday evening after she and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell turned down his offer that all members would get the test for coronavirus just days after he accused her of canceling the House’s return.
However, Nancy Pelosi and McConnell said in a joint statement that Congress wanted rapid Covid-19 testing to be used where it is most needed and not on Capitol Hill.
“Congress is grateful for the Administration’s generous offer to deploy rapid COVID-19 testing capabilities to Capitol Hill, but we respectfully decline the offer at this time, congress wants to keep directing resources to the front-line facilities where they can do the most good the most quickly”. They said.
Trump announced that there was ‘tremendous testing capacity’ available for senators returning to Washington and that all Congress members would get a Covid-19 test that takes just 5 minutes.
