AOC, Omar Arrested At Supreme Court Protest For Abortion Rights

During a demonstration supporting abortion rights before the Supreme Court, several Democrats were detained, including Democratic Squad members Alexandria Ocasio-Ortez of New York and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, as well as Democratic North Carolina Rep. Alma Adams.

Her staff posted on her Twitter account that “Today, Rep. AOC was detained together with other members of Congress outside the Supreme Court for protesting in support of abortion rights.”

“This is the staff of Congresswoman Adams. She was recently detained while demonstrating at the Supreme Court for reproductive justice and access to abortion. More details as they become available,” the staff of Rep. Adams tweeted.

It happened after the Capitol Police warned demonstrators that they would take action.

First Street, NE is being blocked off by protesters. Since it is illegal to stop traffic, authorities will first issue the normal three warnings before starting to make arrests, according to the police.

“We’ve already issued the required three warnings. We are starting to make arrests since some of the protesters are refusing to leave the street, they claimed.

Following the arrests, they tweeted once more.

For Crowding, Obstructing, or Incommoding (DC Code 22-1307), we made a total of 34 arrests. 16 members of Congress are among those who have been arrested, they claimed.

This comes after California Democrat Rep. Judy Chu was detained by U.S. Capitol Police for crowding, obstructing, or inconveniencing at a pro-choice demonstration.

The Capitol and Supreme Court buildings’ neighboring intersection of First Street and Constitution Avenue was reportedly blocked by demonstrators, according to the department. After several warnings to protesters, Capitol police detained 181 people.

“I came out to march for the young rape survivor, the woman who cannot afford to travel to another state for crucial care, and the mother whose life is in jeopardy due to an ectopic pregnancy. In response to her arrest, Chu wrote in a tweet, “I came out to march for all of us.

WATCH:

The Supreme Court’s judgment in the hotly debated case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was made public last week.

The court decided to reverse Roe v. Wade, a significant decision that legalized abortion.

An uproar resulted from the early May leak to Politico of a draft of Justice Samuel Alito’s majority opinion, which had been drafted.

Alito stated in the leaked draft that “Roe was egregiously incorrect from the start.”

He stated in the document, “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overridden. “It is time to obey the Constitution and hand back control of the abortion debate to the elected officials of the people. As a result, we maintain that the Constitution does not grant a right to an abortion. Roe and Casey must be overturned, and the people and their elected officials must once again have the power to control abortion.

Chief Justice Roberts instructed the court marshal to investigate the event and determine who was to blame shortly after the leak on May 2. Roberts claimed at the time that the leak’s purpose was to “undermine the integrity of our activities.”

He promised that “it will fail.”

“This leak was created with the express purpose of intimidating the judges and endangering the Court as a whole. With an attempt on a sitting justice and elected Democrats branding an entire branch of government “illegitimate,” the Court is currently dealing with an all-out leftist assault, according to Missouri GOP Sen. Josh Hawley.

Fortunately, the leak did not affect the conclusion of this important case, but he continued, “We need to figure out what happened and make sure it never happens again.”

Given that the current clerks’ terms are almost up and he will soon lose any influence he currently has, Judicial Crisis Network President Carrie Severino remarked, “I would hope that the Chief Justice is addressing the investigation with tremendous urgency.”

The Supreme Court has not provided any new information or explanation regarding who the person was who leaked the draft opinion almost two months ago.

  1. This insurrection on the steps of our Supreme Court must be dealt with in the most harshest way possible by locking these would be murderer advocates up for months on end. They need to be stripped from public office and given 10 years hard labor down on the Texas border cleaning up garbage left by slobs like them.
