Linda Tripp, a secretary in the White House counsel’s office in the early years of Bill Clinton’s presidency dies at age 70. She was an American civil servant who played a major role in the Clinton- Lewinsky scandal of 1998.
She was transferred to the Pentagon’s public affairs office and befriended White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Her secretly recorded conversations with Lewinsky led to the 1998 impeachment of President Bill Clinton.
She provided evidence of her conversation with Lewinsky, who confessed to an affair with Clinton. When ot was announced that Tripp was near death, Lewinsky quickly wished her a speedy recovery despite all that happened in the past.
“No matter the past, upon hearing that Linda Tripp is very seriously ill,i hope for her recovery. I can’t imagine how difficult this is for her family,” Lewinsky wrote.
