Negotiations aimed at finding a deal on a coronavirus bill collapsed on Friday, the Congress and the White House were not able to reach a mutual conclusion despite a continuous rise in cases and lingering economic aftershocks.
President Trump signaled on Friday that he planned to continue without Congress to try and address lapsed relief measures for millions of Americans.
Mnuchin and White House chief of staff Mark Meadows met for less than two hours with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer as part of an effort to revive the talks on a fifth coronavirus bill, which is appearing to be fruitless.
Meanwhile, President Trump, in a Twitter post blasted Democrats accusing them of trying to extract “Bailout Money for poorly run Democrat cities and states” as part of the failed talks.
