Sen. Lindsey Graham Comes After Dems;Warns Them Against Calling Witnesses.

The democratic House Managers, the prosecutors file their trial saying President Trump is trying to put himself above the law. In their quote they said “That is what President Trump has attempted to do, and why president Trump’s conduct is the framers worst nightmare”.

Sen. Lindsey Graham defended president Trump saying this is the first impeachment in history where there is no allegation of a crime by the president. He also stated that his initial plan of a pre-trial dismissal of the impeachment case against President Trump is now unlikely to happen, but he is pushing for the trial to begin and end as fast as possible.

In 1999 when Lindsey Graham was the Republican house manager, he said there may be conflicts that has to be resolved by presenting live witnesses. But presently he is strongly against witnesses because in the House, they filed the impeachment articles in 48 days and they never allowed the president to execute his privileges and when he suggested he might, the Democrats impeached him for obstructing congress. The truth is that any president would ask for executive privilege regarding these witnesses.

In an interview with “Fox News Sunday”, Grahan explained that if one witness is called, then all the witnesses would be called too.

“If we call one witness, we are going to call all the witnesses. There is not going to be a process where the Democrats get their witnesses and the president gets shut out. Here is what i am going to do, i am gonna be consistent, i am going to vote against calling the four witnesses requested by Senator Schumer because they are all covered by executive privileges. I want this trial dismissed as quickly as possible”. He said

Graham remains confident that Republicans are still united enough to acquit Trump at the conclusion of the trial. Graham would neither confirm nor deny reports that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell plans on keeping the Senate in session for 12 hours a day so that House Democrats would be done presenting their arguments Wednesday.

The president does not have the burden of proof here. He doesn’t need to exonerate himself. He also has the right to assert executive privilege to prevent certain persons from giving testimony.
