House Republican Kevin McCarthy has begun mapping out an aggressive investigation of the Joe Biden administration including the probe into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic and a leak of IRS data about billionaires.
The House Republican has planned to make use of majority powers for Joe Biden’s two terms in office if the GOP wins the majority in next year’s midterms.
Axol reported that “McCarthy plans to beef up staff, counsel and other resources to be ready to extract information beginning Day 1 if the GOP gets the gavel.”
The list of investigations to be carried out includes:
- A leak of a “vast cache of IRS information” about billionaires to ProPublica.
- Record levels of illegal immigration.
- Origins of the virus, and CDC communications about school closures and mask mandates.
- Decisions behind the withdrawal, and an accounting of Americans who remain stranded.
- A disputed cloud-computing contract.
- Tucker Carlson last summer accused the spy agency of targeting his show’s communications. The NSA said he was never an “intelligence target.
- Attorney General Merrick Garland’s vow to mobilize the FBI against “threats of violence against school board members,” after the National School Boards Association used the phrase “domestic terrorism.” The association apologized for its letter.
On the Covid-19 pandemic, over which there has been opposition to Biden’s vaccine orders and face-covering mandates, members of Congress want to dive into the communications that led to school closures and face-covering rules.
However, the lawmakers are also hoping to study the origins of COVID-19, despite a previous investigation by WHO coming up inconclusive due to China’s lack of cooperation.
